The Liberals Hit the Joint Too Early

For starters, let’s ignore the title of this piece.

Justin Trudeau recently announced that legalizing Marijuana, one of the promises the Liberals ran on during the 2015 election, might contradict the international treaties that Canada is apart of. All of the treaties criminalize the possession and the production of Marijuana.

This reflects the lack of preparation by the Liberal party on Marijuana policy. Considering this was one of their key policies (one which the Conservatives attacked relentlessly), it’s disappointing to see that none of this was taken into account. Take this quote from Liberal leader Justin Trudeau before getting elected:

“We don’t yet know exactly what rate we’re going to be taxing it, how we’re going to control it, or whether it will happen in the first months, within the first year, or whether it’s going to take a year or two to kick in,”

Although I can definitely applaud the amount of work the Liberal party is achieving, but to see this amount of change from the original promises (especially when it comes to the budget and refugees) is somewhat worrying.

Let’s hope this doesn’t become a trend for the Liberals
